58 Years of Quality and Consistency!

1

This past June 28th marked the 58th anniversary of our grand-opening in 1964. It is amazing how far we have come from the original store that was across the street in Holloway’s Shopping Center. We began in the store that is now the left, one-third of Harvest Bakery. In 1973 my Mom & Dad were able to save everything they could to purchase a field that we now sit upon.

In 1974 we moved to our new building with the stylish 40 foot “A” frame that has become a unique local landmark in its own right.

My sisters and I grew up at our family restaurant through the 60’s and 70’s.

My sisters and I grew up at our family restaurant through the 60’s and 70’s and it was while I was 17 that I, a somewhat seasoned pizza cook, first met and started dating my future wife; a salad girl named Lisa Pagani.

After attending Bryant University, I came back to our family eatery and brought about many changes that I learned while working at Brown Thompson & Co., as well as several other area restaurants. In 1993 I had the idea to open a sports bar we would name Hoops N’ Hops. My dad begrudgingly loaned me $2,000 to make it come to fruition. By 1994, with the addition of the sports bar, we worked out a buy-out plan where I could purchase the restaurant.
I am proud to still be living here in Simsbury, running our family’s eatery and am curious if any of my children will continue the tradition that began when my grandparents on both sides first immigrated to this wonderful country in the 1930’s. My daughter Katherine & son Tommy already work here and Johnny will be beginning soon.
From a staff of just Mom and Dad, we have grown to a staff of about 45. Over the years it has always been a deep-rooted family that has sailed this ship called Antonio’s. I treasure all of our family members. From Joey and Stacey who joined me in 1994, to Chef TJ Parker who joined me in 2003, His son Shayne who got dropped off here after school in 2007 and never left, to Ashley who joined us 10 years ago and has taken over a lot of my own job. Thanks to you as well, in making our longevity possible.

We truly appreciate you and your support!
